FAQ’s
What exactly is shockwave therapy?
Shockwave therapy (radial extracorporeal shockwave therapy) is a non-invasive treatment that delivers acoustic pressure waves to injured muscles, tendons, and ligaments. These waves boost circulation, stimulate tissue repair, and break down scar tissue and calcifications, helping chronic injuries finally heal.
Does shockwave therapy hurt?
Most patients describe the sensation as a rapid tapping or pulsing that can be briefly uncomfortable over the injured area. We adjust the intensity of the Masterpuls R-SW50 to your comfort level, and any discomfort typically settles shortly after the session.
How many sessions will I need?
Most conditions respond within 3 to 5 sessions, spaced about a week apart, with each session taking only 10–15 minutes. Long-standing or complex issues may need a few more. Dr. Bryan will outline your expected treatment plan after your initial assessment.
Are there any side effects to shockwave therapy?
Shockwave therapy is very safe and non-invasive. Some patients notice mild redness, soreness, or swelling over the treated area for a day or two — a normal sign that the healing response has been activated. During your assessment we screen for the few situations where shockwave isn’t recommended, such as over open wounds or during pregnancy.
